The book is out

My new book - Foundation Flash CS3 Video -is out. I know this because a box of them were left on my doorstep the other day. This one was an absolute blast to work on and it covers everything from Encodng to deploying HD video to your site.

As the title says, it is a Foundation book.It is designed to give the basic skills and, if you are currently using video, to bring those skills up to an intermediate level. If you are interested you can pick it up at Amazon or you can try and find it at your local bookstore.

BTW, if you do pick it up and find an error, please let me know and I'll have it fixed immediately.

Hello Prof,

I am a flash developer who has so far gotten by with just making flash video apps using the preset flash players. Now my employers want me to deploy flash apps with flash video players built completely from scratch.

My question is: For the Custom Flash Player built in your book what controls are built from scratch (FullScreen, Elapsed time/total time, etc) - which controls?

Thanks sir and I really really look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Victor

good stuff....
I would recommend Tom's book to both developers and designers.

However if you want to learn more about AS and Video in Flash
read this book as well:
Sybex Flash Video for Professionals

In my openion those who are interested in FLV and AS have to read both books.

Is there a chapter in the book that covers tracking the number of time a video has been watched?

I think I posted my comment to the wrong rant, rave, etc. I posted it to "Flash Video book excerpts", but this blog may be the place. It's still being approved.

I'm going to cry if I don't resolve the DirectX9 and QuickTime 7 issue.
